Weekend in Joshua Tree National Park

MARCH 25-26, 2017

This year our spring wildflower trip will be a weekend camping trip to Joshua Tree National Park!

Join us in the land of famously bizarre Joshua Trees reaching for the sky! California's drought seems to be easing, so this year we will camp overnight to explore the promise of wildflowers that most of us may never have seen.

On Saturday we will see broad vistas as we ride in our air-conditioned, chartered bus to the Black Rock Campground. Since there are nearly 750 documented plant species in the park, you should bring your camera because we will definitely find some! Along the way, your leaders will offer several day hikes of varying difficulty levels (easy to strenuous). You will discover some of the park's natural treasures, and there will be lots of photographic opportunities.

If you are up early on Sunday, you may spot some of the 78 species of birds that nest and raise their young at Joshua Tree (and you are almost sure to see roadrunner and Gambel's quail). There will be time for all of us to stretch our legs in and around the campground before we depart at noon.

This is an overnight tent camping trip, and participants must provide their own meals and camping equipment (tent, sleeping bag etc).
